Paris Saint-Germain Edges Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening cup on 14 separate times.

Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to take a shock lead. Initially, the English forward converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial attempts from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a convincing penalty victory.

Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
