Nearly twenty-five thousand homes in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events swept through the region, generating strong winds topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Massive Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were forecast to persist along much of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential expected across different parts of both areas.

Health Warning

Health officials cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
