Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces growing in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group consists of Teor (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

First, the group knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
  • Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • Thimble and The character are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.

Viewers can expect learning which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
